Evgeny Moryatov

Born in 1982, Evgeny Moryatov started his musical studies at the age of five. One year later he entered the Superior School of the ‘Rimsky-Korsakov’ State Conservatory in San Petersburg, where he was a student of L. Adjemova. In 1992 he moved to Spain, where he finished the eighth grade of violin and the second grade of chamber music with honours, and went on to win the Award of Honour at the State Music Conservatory in A Coruña. From 1996 to 1999 he studied at the ‘Reina Sofía’ Superior School of Music in Madrid with reknowned professor J. L. Garcia Asensio, while being awarded scholarships from the Isaac Albeniz Foundation and the Pedro Barrié de la Maza Foundation. From 1999 to 2002 he furthered his artistic career in Toronto with Professor Emeritus David Zafer. He was awarded a scholarship for the 2000-2004 year period by the ‘Deputación de A Coruña’. Since 2002 he studies with Andres Cardenes at Carnegie Mellon University. Currently, he is completing the second year of the Master’s Program at Carnegie Mellon.

Evgeny has participated in masterclasses with P. Zuckerman, D. Zafer, J. L. García Asensio, M. Fucks, P. Munteanu, J. J. Kantarov, D. Sitkovetzky, O. Krisa, A. Futer, G. Pogosova, R. Schmidt, M. Pressler, F. Almond, M. Chalifour, and K. Scholes, among others. Since the age of six, he took part in several concerts, and from twelve on, gave recitals throughout Spain, most important among which, his performance at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, in March of 1998. He participated in the first and second ‘Young Performer Cycles’ sponsored by the ‘Barrié de la Maza’ Foundation, and was awarded a scholarship for the 1998-2000 year period.

He has performed as a soloist on several occasions with the 'Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia', 'Orquesta Odón Alonso', 'Orquesta de Cámara Arcos', 'Orquesta de Cámara Solistas de Galicia', and 'Orquesta de Cámara Freixenet' of the ‘Reina Sofía’ Superior School of Music, with which he has recorded several recordings. In December of 1998 he performed at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid as soloist with the 'Orquesta de Cámara Freixenet' conducted by Y. Menuhin. This concert happened to be the last one conducted by Y. Menuhin in Spain. Evgeny has performed with other conductors such as L. Maazel, Z. Mehta, A. Davis, J. L. García Asensio, D. Zafer, B. Tovey, V. Feldbrill, C. Wilkins, J. Judd, Ros Marbá, E. García Asensio, and J. Ross.

He has won several awards and diplomas in different violin competitions from 1995 to 1998. In 2000, Evgeny was also a prize-winner at the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition. Between 1999 and 2002 he served as concertmaster for the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra. He has been invited for the fourth time to the “Northern Lights” Music Festival in Ajijic, Mexico, where he performs with various chamber groups and as a soloist with orchestra. In the summer of 2002 he recorded a CD with works by A. Gaos and M. Quiroga, which was released worldwide. He has recently been appointed by L. Maazel to the new Valencian Orquestra. Since 1988 he plays concerts regularly with his family’s quartet.



Carlos García Amigo
Cello

Cellist Carlos García Amigo received his early musical training in A Coruña and later in Santiago de Compostela with professors Ignacio Alonso, Lito Iglesias, and Dalibor Sebêstik. He went on to become a member of the ‘Xoven Orquestra de Galicia’ and of former University of Santiago ensemble ‘In Itinere’, with which he recorded three CD’s.

In 1996, he was invited to participate as a soloist in the Galicia Symphony Orchestra ‘Concierto de Jóvenes Intérpretes’, with conductor James Ross. Soon after he moved to the Netherlands to study at the ‘Koninklijk Conservatorium’ in La Haya with professors Gregor Horsch (the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra soloist) and Monique Bartels.

In 1999, Carlos played in the ‘Schelswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchester’, with conductors Christoph Eschenbach, M. Rostropovich, and Vladimir Spivakov, among others. He has participated in masterclasses with Jaap ter Linden, Lluis Claret, Francis Gouton, and Jean Decross, and studied chamber music with Kees Hulsmann, Anja Lechner and Monique Deschaussées. He also studied historic performance with Antoine Ladrette, during the “Cánticos, Cántigas e Cantos” Ancient Music Festival, organized by the University of Santiago.

Carlos has received awards from the ‘Deputación de A Coruña’, the ‘Caixa Galicia’ Foundation, and la the ‘Barrié de la Maza’ Foundation, of which he won the II ‘Ciclo de Xóvenes Intérpretes’. In 2001 he was invited to perform as a soloist in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with the Galicia Symphony Orchestra and conductor Rumon Gamba, and in the same year he became a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Galicia. He is a member as well of the Artabria trio and of ‘Ars Combinatoria’, and the founder of the cello ensemble ‘Chelicia’.

Mr. García Amigo has taught in collaboration with the ‘Orquesta Joven de la Sinfónica de Galicia’, Presjovem Orchestra, and ‘Escola de Altos Estudos Musicais’, in addition to workshops for children and youth as part of the ‘Artes no Camiño’ Music Festival. He is currently on the faculty of ‘Estudio Escola de Música’ in Santiago.

Diverse Spanish artist Cristina Pato enjoys an active professional career devoted to both Galician popular music as a bagpiper, and to classical music as a pianist. Her dual careers have led to performances throughout major stages in USA (Lincoln Center 2005 and 2007, Carnegie Hall 2006), Portugal (Festa do Avante, Lisbon 2003), Brazil (Liszt Festival, Rio de Janeiro, 2000), United Kingdom (Celtic Connections 2004, Glasgow), France, Italy (Etnofestival, San Marino 2002), Germany (Ibero-Amerikanisches Institut, Berlin 2003), Mexico (Palacio de Bellas Artes 2004) and all around her native Spain.

Ms. Pato has released three CDs as a solo bagpiper and two as a collaborative pianist. She has collaborated with international artist such as The Chieftains, Hevia, Royal Pipe Band, Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Yo-Yo Ma and The Silk Road Ensemble (invited by composer Osvaldo Golijov) or Galicia Symphony Orchestra and in more than twenty recordings as a guest artist. Ms. Pato has given more than 400 concerts, many of them recorded and broadcasted by television stations such as CNN, BBC, TVG and TVE.

As a classically trained pianist Ms. Pato holds Masters Degrees in Piano, Music Theory and Chamber Music all obtained from the Conservatorio del Liceu (Barcelona) and also a Masters Degree in Digital Arts (Computer Music) from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona).

As the recipient of a major grant from the ‘Barrié de la Maza’ Foundation, she is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate in Collaborative Piano at Rutgers University (NJ).
